Role Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Data Scientist to lead our efforts in promo optimization for a dynamic retail environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in steering the analysis, development, and implementation of predictive models to enhance promotional strategies and drive business growth. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and domain experts to ensure that our solutions are not only innovative but also grounded in industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to understand trends, patterns, and anomalies within large datasets.

• Engage in feature engineering to design and select the most relevant variables for predictive model development.

• Develop robust and accurate predictive models that represent various scenarios, including those without promotions, ensuring alignment with the project's strategic goals.

• Create baseline models to establish normative data for comparison against promotional impacts.

• Analyze model outputs rigorously to extract actionable insights and formulate data-driven recommendations for optimizing promotional strategies.

• Collaborate with domain subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure that the strategies and models are practical, applicable, and adhere to industry best practices.

• Prepare thorough technical documentation for all developed models, clearly detailing methodologies, underlying assumptions, and providing user guides for non-technical stakeholders.

• Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions with the business stakeholders to ensure a deep understanding of the models and how they can be leveraged effectively for decision-making.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Data Scientist with a focus on model development and data analysis.

• Strong background in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data mining.

• Expertise in programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis.

• Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.

• Experience with SQL and familiarity with database management.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Up to 30% travel is a MUST.

Education:

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.

Pay:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.  A reasonable estimate of up to $80 per hour.

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time.  You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company.  In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms.   The Company provides for 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a “free time” PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take the time needed for either sick time or vacation.
