A site reliability engineer (SRE) is a software developer with extensive experience in IT operations and development. They perform various system tasks like analyzing system logs, applying software patches, responding to incidents, testing production environments, and conducting post-incident reviews1. They also build and scale the technology infrastructure to meet rapidly increasing demand, collaborate with the development and QA teams to launch new features and services, monitor and troubleshoot platform issues, automate deployment, monitoring, management, and incident response, and develop and improve operational practices and procedures.
What you'll be doing:
- Provide 24x7 support for production systems, including on-call rotation and troubleshooting tasks for multiple product lines
- Should lead the team from the front and Collaborate to build new teams if required.
- Become an SME in application support and code development, and resolve complex issues including bug fixes
- Drive incident and problem management, and conduct root cause analysis within the defined SLAs
- Develop, monitor, and respond to all alerts for production systems
- Develop troubleshooting documentation for production support resources
- Work independently to resolve technical and infrastructure issues reported by customers and internal teams
- Work with customer support teams on sales, implementation, customer support, and onboarding tasks
- Create documentation on application workflow, common troubleshooting, debugging steps, and best practices, and deliver training to other engineers in the team
- Collaborate with development teams to resolve complex issues and improve service reliability and performance

Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science or related discipline
- Ability to program (structured and OOP) using one or more high-level languages, such as Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and JavaScript
- Working knowledge of AWS or Azure
- Experience with one or more distributed storage technologies such as NFS, HDFS, Ceph, and Amazon S3, as well as dynamic resource management frameworks (Apache Mesos, Kubernetes, Yarn)
- Sound knowledge of operating systems (like Linux)
- Should be aware of DevOps concepts and best practices
- CI/CD implementation expertise
- Issue troubleshooting experience
- Communication and collaboration skills
- Good knowledge of cloud-native applications
- Good understanding of distributed computing
- Should know how to code
- Experience with various tools and technologies used by SREs, such as Ansible, Terraform, Envoy, Istio, Consul, Jenkins, HashiCorp Vault, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK stack, NewRelic, Pagerduty, Slack, etc
