About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Senior Frontend Angular Software Engineer to join Flywheel’s hard-working and collaborative development team. This is a unique opportunity to work with a dedicated and growing team to build an enterprise-scale application, primarily developed in Angular/AngularJS, consisting of a UI, API, SDK, and CLI for sharing and curating scientific and medical data. Tools you build will be used to empower scientists and researchers to enhance their workflow efficiency and sharing capabilities. Successful applicants will have a passion for problem-solving, teamwork, iterating quickly and delivering quality results to deadlines. This role requires a strong UI development background with technical experience working with a variety of technologies, some of the ones we use are:
Angular, Typescript, Sass, RxJS
Figma, Storybook, Auth0
Python 3 APIs and Kubernetes
Cloud providers: AWS, Google, and Azure
MongoDB, Elasticsearch
Git, CI/CD specifically GitLab

Responsibilities
- Application Maintenance & Enhancement: Uphold the integrity of our existing applications through regular maintenance and strategic improvements, ensuring optimal performance and user experience.
- Debugging & Troubleshooting: Proactively identify, debug, and resolve issues within the application, contributing to the stability and reliability of our products.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work in synergy with UX Design, Product Management, and Quality Assurance teams to develop and refine features for our Flywheel products, emphasizing quality and efficiency.
- Data Contract Establishment: Collaborate with team members to define robust data contracts that cater to UI requirements, promoting seamless data flow and interaction.
- UI/UX Troubleshooting: Proactively identify and resolve UI/UX issues, contributing to the continuous enhancement of user interface and experience.
- Architectural Decision-Making: Participate in architectural decision-making processes for complex projects, leveraging your expertise to guide strategic planning.
- Code Quality & Testing Standards: Adhere to and exceed the team's code quality and testing standards, while proactively suggesting improvements to elevate our development practices.
- Geographically Dispersed Collaboration: Engage daily with a globally distributed development team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Act as a mentor to other engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise in various forms to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
What Would Make You A Great Fit
- 5+ years of experience working in enterprise-scale frontend web development.
- Proficiency in TS/JS/CSS/HTML.
- Experience working closely with UX designers and design systems.
- Working knowledge of the Angular 14+ framework and its design paradigms.
- Understanding of best practices working with RESTful APIs.
- Experience building applications that handle large file transfers and interact with cloud storage services like GCS, S3, etc.
- Proven track record of elevating and mentoring other engineers.
- Have a habit of documentation to share your knowledge and learn from past mistakes.
