Flex

Lead Product Manager, Payments

New York, NY US
USD 175k - 250k
Description

Flex is a growth-stage, NYC headquartered FinTech company that is creating the best rent payment experience. It’s hard to believe that it’s 2024 and paying rent on time is expensive, inflexible, and difficult. We’re here to change that! Flex enables our users to pay rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances and budget. Our mission is to empower as many renters as possible with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense. After deliberately keeping a stealth profile as we built up unprecedented investor support and an enthusiastic user base, we are looking for motivated individuals to help us keep our mission growing. Will you be a part of the team?

About the role

Flex has built a large, rapidly growing business around helping cash-strapped consumers pay their rent by offering liquidity and budgeting support coupled with rent payment processing. Today Flex only accepts card based payments (debit, credit, prepaid). Going forward we intend to expand consumer choice by supporting a broader range of payment methods including ACH and paycheck direct deposit, while optimizing conversion and cost performance of our full set of payment methods. We’re looking for an experienced Payments PM who can lead the effort to build support for new payment methods from initial partnership discussions, through building out the technical rails, through post-launch optimization. Processing rent payments is at the very core of Flex, and this product manager will own that experience. While we prefer candidates based in NYC due to our hybrid setup, remote work options are available.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define Flex’s payment acceptance strategy and roadmap, aligning it with the company's overall vision and business objectives
  • Drive the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from ideation and requirements gathering to release and post-release analysis
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure the successful execution of the product roadmap, providing clear and detailed specifications, prioritizing features, and addressing technical challenges
  • Own (define and analyze) key metrics to measure product success and make data-driven decisions
  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional meetings, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and stakeholder presentations
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices, providing guidance on platform architecture, scalability, and security
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, mentoring junior team members and promoting a culture of continuous learning and growth

Key qualifications

  • 6+ years of technical product management experience.
  • Proven track record of working closely with engineering for successful product delivery (execution excellence).
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to comprehend engineering systems and architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive impact on goals and metrics through quantitative analysis.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and effectively communicating data-driven recommendations to non-technical stakeholders, including leadership.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, taking ownership of projects and ensuring quality outcomes.
  • Passion for problem-solving and a keen intellectual curiosity.
  • Highly motivated team player with a startup mindset, capable of handling multiple projects.
  • Previous Payments experience is a strong plus, with other fintech, banking, or credit products also being desirable.

The national pay range for this role is $175,000-$250,000 in base salary. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience aligned with Flex's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks.
