What does a successful Windows Lead Engineer do at Fiserv?

You will play an important role in our organization’s evolution towards contemporary application and infrastructure management practices, and you will be expected to both guide and support the team’s growth and learning. You will be focused on addressing the hot, tactical, and engineering issues that are impacting the ongoing integration activities by using your Infrastructure as Code expertise.

What you will do:  

• Build holistic visibility into SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs; dependency graphs; and past performance of software, network, and systems to ensure that we can continue to scale without increasing operational burden or toil
• Assess the current state of the environment and drive initiatives in collaboration with the rest of the organization to ensure transparency, resiliency, stability, and reliability across both Applications and Infrastructure stacks
• Drive initiatives for future state that can vary from Incident Analysis leveraging ML and AI, assisting with Datacenter stability, and consolidation efforts to application transformation (monolithic to microservices, PaaS, etc.)
• Enable the adoption and implementation of cloud-based application reliability, resiliency, and observability and deployment best practices for production and non-production environments, including public cloud migration of our mission critical applications from the on-prem datacenters
• Automate to minimize toil
• Monitor and report on service-level objectives for a given applications service
• Partner with security engineers and develop plans and automation to aggressively and safely respond to new risks and vulnerabilities

What you will need to have:

• 5+ years of experience supporting an enterprise IT environment
• 5+ years of experience with current, enterprise-class Infrastructure/System Engineering with Microsoft platforms running on Intel servers
• 5+ years of experience interacting with customers and appropriate representatives to analyze, validate, verify, document, and manage the requirements of large-scale projects
• 4+ years of experience with tools and technologies such as Dynatrace, Splunk, and Moogsoft
• 4+ years of experience with scripting (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
• 2+ years of experience designing, debugging, and running fault tolerant large-scale distributed systems
• 6+ months of experience working on Fiserv platforms
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education, work, and military service

What would be great to have:

• Knowledge of how Firewalls, Routers, Load Balancers, and Storage interact
• Understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP, subnetting, and load balancing strategies
• Familiarity with API Gateways and reverse proxies such as Apigee and F5 APM
• Knowledge of public cloud platforms
• Knowledge of PCI DSS 3.2 requirements
