Principal Site Reliability Engineer

The Asset Management Technology group is looking for an experienced site reliability engineer as a member of our technology team.

This position requires a deep understanding of application and infrastructure support with familiarity of supporting cloud computing environments. You must be a self-starter who is passionate about the technology you are supporting and eager to improve its reliability through developing platform improvements. You should enjoy working on a mix of technologies in a team environment where your success depends heavily on the success of your team and organisation. You should have an appetite and appreciation for new technologies and their ground-breaking influence.

The Expertise We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated ability in system and application support related roles supporting highly distributed multi-tiered systems at scale.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a desire to identity problems and drive resolution.
  • Strong experience in incident management and problem management.
  • You enjoy learning and applying new technologies, using data analysis, and identifying patterns and trends.
  • Automation oriented approach - ability to identify manual, repetitive or inefficient tasks and processes and improve or automate them.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.

The Skills You Bring

  • Ability to triage and implement root cause analysis, and be decisive under pressure.
  • Experience running and interpreting large datasets using query languages for example SQL, PL/SQL.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Java, Groovy, Shell, Python and/or similar.
  • Experience with AWS and related services for example EKS, EC2, S3 and Lambda.
  • Hands on experience with one or more observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, OpenTelemetry, etc.).
  • Knowledge of container orchestration and related technologies like Kubernetes, Docker.
  • Knowledge of application development and release deployment cycles including pipeline and related automation such as CI/CD.
  • Knowledge of working in an Agile Environment.
  • Knowledge of supporting tools such as Confluence/JIRA.
  • Strong communication skills to work with a variety of individuals and groups, both in person and virtually, in a constructive and collaborative manner and build and maintain effective relationships.
