Job Description:
The Managing Director is responsible for maintaining and enhancing relationships within each Plan Sponsor organization and with the Plan’s Advisor as well as relationships across the entire Fidelity organization
The Expertise We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. MBA or equivalent preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in financial services and/or client-facing role
- Prior experience working with Financial Advisors preferred
- Comfort in public speaking, with the ability to handle unstructured Q & A
- Demonstrates a broad-based knowledge of the characteristics of DC and financial services industry.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing & negotiating skills with senior business leaders
- Demonstrated focused, organized and systematic approach to accomplishing tasks and achieving goals, with the capacity to effectively balance a number of competing priorities
- Thorough understanding of ERISA, regulatory laws related to the DC market, and investments
- Series 7 and 63 license required within 90 days of employment
The Purpose of Your Role
The Managing Director (MD) manages a book of business of the largest and most complex plans in the Advisor Market and is responsible for client satisfaction, retention and profitability. The MD is responsible for developing strong business relationships with the Advisor and with the C-suite level decision makers within the Plan Sponsor organization and for the overall success and satisfaction of both relationships. Travel is expected 25% of the time.
The Skills You Bring
- The MD must thoroughly understand the business, culture, politics and the goals of the Plan Sponsor organization as it relates to their benefits plans and must understand the specific value proposition of the Plan’s Advisor
- Working with the Plan Sponsor and Advisor to provide regular reviews of the Plan and develops an annual strategic business plan to identify enhancements consistent with the Plan Sponsor organization goals.
- Providing consultation on the current legal and regulatory environment and how changes may impact the Plan.
- Working closely with the Plan’s Advisor to ensure an Investment Review is conducted at least annually, which includes a comprehensive presentation on the performance of the Plan’s investments.
- The MD works closely with Fidelity’s internal administration and operations staff who are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the plan.
The Value You Deliver
- Primary responsibility and accountability for plan retention. The MD proactively assesses risk factors and works to mitigate them. He/she quickly identifies and escalates competitive risk situations, and develops and executes a plan to retain the business.
- Responsible for maintaining and improving the profitability of the relationship including fees, funds, selling products and service adoption and cross-selling other Fidelity products such as NQ, Stock Services and other multi-product service offerings. The MD provides regular Plan cost analysis to the Plan Sponsor and Advisor, manages all fee negotiations, manages fund line-up discussions, and introduces services that manage costs and/or increase cash flow through increased participation and deferrals.
- Responsible for Advisor support for plans at Fidelity. This includes relationship building activities mentioned above as well as coordinating information and activities across different MDs
