Staff Software Engineer, UI - Product Enablement

The Product Enablement team is a productive team of multi-functional engineers, building features that engage users on the setup, configuration, and maintenance of their Fastly services and related products. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will influence how we architect our React applications, while helping us maintain and migrate our existing Ember codebases. You will contribute to our micro frontend infrastructure built on Fastly’s Compute platform and help us facilitate easy scaling of our frontend applications and development processes. You will be a technical leader in the evolution of our core services, with attention to crafting beautiful and intuitive user interfaces.

What You'll Do:

  • Streamline user experiences, with an eye towards accessibility
  • Consider resilience, performance, scalability, and business needs in your solutions
  • Guide the approach and execution of projects you lead
  • Identify and remove roadblocks to the development process
  • Collaborate with other engineers, including pairing, code reviews, and technical design documents
  • Mentor peers and promote inclusivity and best practices within and across teams

What We're Looking For: 

  • ~6+ years developing and maintaining robust user experiences using JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
  • An interest in micro frontend architecture
  • Experience with strongly typed programming languages like TypeScript
  • Experience working with design systems
  • A long track record of developing and testing applications with Ember, React or other JavaScript frameworks
  • A strong understanding of web performance and accessibility
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong mentorship skills and an ability to help grow other developers

We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these: 

  • Experience with Ember.js
  • Experience with micro frontend architecture
  • Strong knowledge of Content Delivery Networks and Fastly’s Compute platform

Work Hours:

This position will require you to be available during core business hours and will participate in the on-call support rotation evenings and weekends as needed.

Work Location(s) & Travel Requirements: 

This Hybrid position can be hired in any Fastly US office, with preference on to the following locations:

  • Denver, CO
  • San Francisco, CA

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home. 

Salary: 

The estimated salary range for this position is $181,220 to $226,520.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
