Senior UI Engineer - Product Experience (Product Enablement)

As a Senior UI Engineer at Fastly, you will both improve upon and maintain the various components that make up our customer-facing user interface. Fastly’s configuration API and user interface are the features that set us apart from our competition. 

You will work on product-advancing areas including service configuration, purging, edge dictionaries, and Compute@Edge. You will find yourself proposing, building, and documenting features and APIs, reviewing your peers' proposals and code, and growing as an engineer and contributor to our codebase and culture. You will work with Ember.js and help us migrate our codebase to React. You will collaborate closely with product designers and API engineers to build solutions that delight our customers. You will also be an active contributor to the evolution of our core services, with attention to collaboratively designing data and service boundaries that are scalable and fault tolerant.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, support engineers, and customers to craft cohesive UI experiences that are used at scale
• Translate design concepts into innovative UI solutions that blend design, technology, strategy, and accessibility
• Collaborate with backend engineers (we use Ruby and Go), including participating in code reviews
• Build a solid architectural foundation for a growing line of products
• Mentor peers, promote inclusivity, and guide best practices within and across teams
• Make architectural decisions to shape Fastly’s long-term UX and API strategies
• Build tested, maintainable, and usable UI components in our living design system
• Collaborate with other engineers, including participating in code reviews and Request for Comments (RFCs)
• Participate in on-call support rotation

Work Hours: 

• This position will require you to be available during core business hours and occasional evenings and weekends as required for on-call support.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience integrating design systems
• Experience developing and testing applications with Ember, React or other JavaScript frameworks
• A strong understanding of web performance and accessibility
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Experience surfacing and advocating for customer needs
• Strong mentoring skills to help other engineers grow

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ember.js
• REST APIs

• TypeScript

Work Location(s) & Travel Requirements

This position is based out of Fastly’s London, United Kingdom office. Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home. 

This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.
