VP of Engineering - Distributed Cloud Platform

Position Summary

The VP of Engineering, Distributed Cloud Platform and Secure Multi Cloud Networking is accountable for the development and delivery of the core platform and the service to easily network across cloud locations and providers with simplified provisioning and end-to-end security and securely connect distributed workloads across cloud and edge locations with integrated app security.  

Primary Responsibilities

As Head of F5's Distributed Cloud Platform Engineering, the individual will lead a team of developers and architects. The role will be responsible for,

• Developing platform services towards platform multi-tenant management, customer onboarding, security
• Building cutting edge observability & controls for all services in the platform via F5 Distributed Cloud Console.
• Innovating core services for Regional Edge & Customer Edge to deliver Load Balancers, Multi-cloud networking as a service, AppStack application delivery as a service.
• Building foundational capabilities of logging, traffic analysis, infrastructure services for L7 DDoS scrubbing center and data-engineering to enable Distributed Cloud Platform AI/ML.
• Partnering and collaborating with other areas of F5 Distributed Cloud including the application Security engineering teams delivering WAAP, BOT as well as other F5 product teams including BIG IP, NGINX and expanding the horizontal scaling of services offered on the Distributed Cloud Platform.
• Working closely with SOC, NOC, SRE, INFRA ops and Services Organization to enable the successful operation and delivery of the services at scale.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Experience and excellence in Cloud Product Development; Cloud First, Cloud Native Engineering - Telemetry, Data Platform, Quality, Resiliency, Scale, Agility, Product Led & Optimization.
• Scaling SaaS based offerings spanning thousands of Cloud customers, driving over $ 250 M in Cloud ARR and managing global organization of over 250 engineers.
• In depth expertise in Infrastructure Engineering, Enterprise product development and delivery of mission critical services.
• Deep knowledge of Networking, L2/L3-L7 background and understanding of Secure Multi Cloud Networking.
• Thought leadership in Data Engineering - ML, AI, Security, K8S, Cloud Platform
• Executive experience working with company’s executive leadership, sales leadership, support & services, customers and Board members.
• Exemplary people leadership taking human first approach to management, mentoring and developing next layer of engineering leadership talents.
• Proven track record of strengthening and scaling the engineering organization to support rapid cloud customer growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science.
• 15+ years’ experience in product development.
• 15+ years' experience defining architecture, delivering on product roadmap and innovating cutting edge technology solutions.
• 10+ years' experience directly engineering or managing the engineering teams delivering technology products.

The annual U.S. base pay range for this position is: $308,431.00 - $462,647.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
