What you can do for Expel

• Develop team roadmaps in service to internal and external customers, geared towards improving engineering efficiency and the quality of the platform and product, and guide teams to deliver on business goals with timely, iterative execution.
• Work closely with product and security leaders to set expectations on delivery, and engage in healthy, robust dialog around trade-offs and concerns.
• Cultivate a culture around structured software development, innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Communicate and ensure understanding of how the work of teams and individuals ties to company strategy and goals.
• Guide managers in developing efficient and productive processes, goal setting, and metrics with individual teams.
• Continuously provide coaching, feedback, and career development to engineering managers.
• Maintain a rigorous SLO-driven quality and incident response program and work with feature teams and across the platform to establish benchmarks for various aspects of the product and platform, including feature, scalability, performance, reliability, and security.

What you should bring with you

• 5+ years managing and mentoring engineers of all levels; from individual contributors in site reliability engineering, quality, and software development to managers of these functions, preferably on remote/hybrid teams.
• 10+ years delivering large-scale, high-performing, and secure cloud platforms.
• Excellent active listening, negotiation, and conflict management skills across communication styles and levels from deeply technical through executive.
• Solid understanding of data analysis and performance/operational metrics and statistics, and demonstrated experience using these skills to make decisions.
• Experience contributing to roadmap/budget planning and making data-backed financial business decisions.
• Solid understanding of software engineering, applications security, and quality best practices, particularly in Linux-based SaaS environments.
• Technical and cost management experience working with cloud-native services in at least one of the top cloud providers in the following priority order - GCP, AWS, and Azure.

Additional notes

The base salary for this role is $187,800 - $272,300 + bonus and equity.
