The ESP Operations and Technology team in Expedia helps secure the company by providing solutions majorly for Cybersecurity Incident detection and response (i.e. cyber-attacks), Security Vulnerability Management, Physical Security and Security Compliance & Governance. The team has developed an in-house monitoring and execution platform (over AWS Cloud infrastructure) to help the Cyber Response, Physical Security, Governance, Risk and Compliance teams to perform their security operations with efficiency and speed.

You will build highly available systems that scale to hundreds and thousands of security events. You will be an important part of a growing team using the latest technology to protect our business, our customers, our business partners, and improve our customer experience, empowering the whole EG Security pillar.

What you’ll do:

• Design, and develop new platform services to expand capabilities of our Security Platform

• Be responsible for coaching and mentoring an incredible, hardworking team around their goals, delivery, and career development.

• Own and deliver tested and optimized high-performance code for a distributed messaging, event, and vulnerability management environment.

• Participate in the resolution of production issues and lead efforts toward solutions.

• Technologies what we use: Java, AWS, Kafka, GraphQL, Node.js, React, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, Graphana, Influx, ServiceNow, Redshift, Spark, Tableau.

• Contribute to vigilantly rewriting, refactoring, and perfecting code.

• Work with Product Management and Operations in an agile environment to accomplish team goals-Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.

• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

• Build tools that utilize the data pipeline to deliver meaningful insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics.

• Work with partners including the Executive, Product, Data, and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.

• Demonstrated ability leading teams of 5+ or mentoring developers, and helping to drive engineering maturity.

• Hires top engineering talent and keep his/her team members challenged

• Problem solver and an excellent coder with a deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, distributed applications, and data modelling.

• Passionate about the quality of work, you are persistent and uncompromising.

• Ensure smooth functioning of the team, by following common-sense processes and the long-term health of the services your team owns.

• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and find opportunities for improvement.

• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.

• Solid understanding of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable large data stores.

• Solid project management and organisational skills.

• Experience supporting and working with multi-functional teams in an agile development environment.
