Evidation’s Consumer Applications business unit is looking for a Staff DevOps Engineer with a passion for DevOps, automation, building engineering tools, and engineering scalable high performing distributed cloud systems. Experience with cloud native architecture, cloud security, continuous integration, continuous delivery, infrastructure as code, and a strong operational background are all a must. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES 

  • Write self documenting production-ready infrastructure as code that is easily testable, easily understood by other engineers, and accounts for edge cases and potential issues.
  • Architects cloud native systems using well accepted design patterns to allow for iterative, autonomous development and future scaling. 
  • Identifies and drives automation work leading to quality and velocity improvements.
  • Build DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines to allow engineers to self-serve infrastructure capabilities.
  • Thinks about team practices and processes and regularly discusses improvements with their team. 
  • Be aware of the operational data for their team’s domain and use it as a basis for driving changes to the team's services to achieve stability and performance improvements.
  • Migrate applications from Heroku, Redis lab, CloudMQ to AWS Services including EKS.
  • Consolidate and streamline the operations of AWS infrastructure.
  • Reviews epics and projects critically and ensures they’re appropriately broken down and prioritized.
  • Anticipate and communicate blockers, delays, and cost ballooning within their team’s projects. 
  • Share on-call duty with the rest of the engineering staff. 
  • Build data security into all infrastructure as code and maintain compliance with external regulations.

SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong technical leadership skills that include DevOps tool development, cloud native infrastructure operations, and observability
  • Strong communication skills in a highly interactive Slack communication environment
  • Experience with writing infrastructure as code, including Terraform and Pulumi
  • Experience with migration of workloads to AWS, such as from Heroku, Redis Labs, CloudMQ
  • Experience with AWS services, including Cognito, S3, EC2, ECS, EKS, IAM, RDS, DMS, Athena
  • Programming ability in Typescript, Python or Ruby in particular
  • Experience with CI/CD, including Git source control, Github Actions, and CircleCI
  • Experience with writing automated unit tests for infrastructure as code
  • Experience with container orchestration, including Kubernetes and Helm
  • Experience with writing code to automate processes, including Bash
  • Experience with configuration management and automation tools, including SaltStack and Ansible 
  • Experience with relational databases, including PostgreSQL
  • Strong command of Linux fundamentals and MacOS
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a manager
  • Experience with DataDog
  • Experience with monitoring and maintaining large distributed systems
  • Experience with 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, or HITRUST certification
