OFFERED WAGE:                               $151,590.00 per year

JOB DUTIES:                                      

Provide engineering analysis and technical support for the planning and operation of the electric power system and to ensure continuing reliable operations of the electric power grid in compliance with NERC standards, ERCOT protocols and Market Guides. Develop tools and procedures to monitor and control the system. Implement appropriate system modeling and perform system studies. Manage and operate production cost and other system simulation models to support capacity expansion studies, probabilistic loss of load studies, and grid integration analysis for renewable and emerging resource technologies. Analyze simulated or actual operating results. Develop solutions to current or future system issues. Prepare responses to public inquiries and data filing requests from the North American Reliability Corporation and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Monitor developments in generation markets and fuel delivery that could impact resource reliability. Assist in compiling and validating resource data stored in the Generator Interconnection or Change Request (GINR) database and other data management tools. Coordinate with the Resource Integration department on GINR data quality control and management activities. Communicate with generator owners and other ERCOT market participants on resource adequacy and reliability impacts of state/federal regulations, drought conditions, fuel supply disruptions and market development trends. Serve as the recognized technical expert for the department within and outside the organization. Provide on-the-job training, mentoring and/or oversight of the work of other engineers and analysts as required. Lead projects and audits as assigned by management. Respond to executive and management inquiries and special analysis and/or reporting requests. Collaborate with other ERCOT departments to select and implement system changes as needed. Communicate results of analyses to appropriate stakeholders. Report findings and recommendations to the management team. Examine, analyze, and determine efficiency improvements for departmental and organizational processes and procedures. Serve as departmental representative on cross-functional teams. Serve as quality assurance and best practices resource within and outside the department. May telecommute up to 2 to 3 days per week from within the State of Texas.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:       

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:    

Eight years (8) of experience as Planning Engineer, Power Systems Engineer, or Power Systems Consultant.

OTHER:                                                

May telecommute up to 2 to 3 days per week from within the State of Texas.
