Staff Software Engineer

Enveda is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team!

The contributions you will make:

Staff Software Engineers at Enveda own core pieces of our data mesh and set the technical direction within and beyond their immediate team. They advocate for and expand people-first engineering practices where great design and technical sustainability are products of our focus on wellbeing, mentorship, and empiricism. They use creativity to deliver outsized value at Enveda in research data pipelines, libraries, and tools using a variety of technologies. Staff Software Engineers report to the VP of Engineering in our non-hierarchical Engineering organization.

As a member of the Software Engineering team, you will report to our Vice President, Software Engineering.

We will rely on you to self direct your contributions that create value at Enveda, including:

• Set the technical direction, within and beyond your immediate team
• Collaborate daily with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Biologists, Chemists, and Product Managers
• Be a mentor and coach to members of the engineering staff and beyond
• Design and build scalable data systems and products
• Help guide CI/CD practices and automation strategies
• Build reusable packages and libraries
• Write and peer review scalable, high quality, and well-tested code

Who will thrive in this role?

• Embrace and excel in an Agile operating environment with a focus on quick iterations of incremental value, experimentation, blamelessness, and learning
• Curiosity for and genuine collaboration with data and lab scientist teammates
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
• Substantial experience building, testing, and automating the productionization of working software with Python and AWS (or equivalent GCP/Azure experience)
