As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play an instrumental role in delivering technology solutions, working both independently and collaboratively across multiple teams. You’ll be developing high quality software that conforms to approved design patterns and aligns with architecture goals and objectives.
 

What you will do:

• Assist in the design, build, implementation, troubleshooting and testing of highly scalable software products aligned with Empower's Business, Technology and Architecture strategies.
• Support technical solutions that directly support Empower business operations and the millions of Empower customers through performance, scalability, security and quality.
• Identify and work with other Software Developers and Architects on improvements to our development process and code base.
• Provide skilled technical support and guidance directly to end users.
• Assist in the development and support of automated CI/CD delivery pipelines.
• Operate expertly within the team-specific SDLC lifecycle and process, in-alignment with broader departmental or divisional lifecycle and process.
• Conform to test automation strategies, build automation frameworks, write unit/functional tests to drive up code coverage and automation metrics.
• Respond-to and resolve somewhat complex and/or escalated issues.
• Understand and apply Empower's security controls and DR protocols in your design and code implementation.
• Improve application resiliency through improved design and coding practices.
• Develop technical perspectives, standards, solutions and strategies that add value to the customer experience, while reducing technical complexity.
• Generate innovative ideas and develop prototypes and proof of concepts.
• Design effective solutions with well understood tradeoffs that meet the business requirements.
• Propose new and innovative solutions to meet the fast-changing business environment.
• Document solution designs clearly and with enough details for the delivery teams to size the effort.
• Drive long-term design thinking for systems and engineering processes with simplicity, scalability, resiliency and maintainability as core principles.
• Deliver value through a strong collaborative approach spanning multiple geographically dispersed teams.
• Adopt and contribute to best practices, standards & guidance, then subsequently provide coaching of technology team members.
• Participate in, and occasionally lead, a Scrum Development Team.
• Assist Lead Developer with the oversight, training and mentoring of the team.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you will bring:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of experience building and troubleshooting Java Services with Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with object-oriented programming and experience with at least one object-oriented programming language (Java, Python).
• Experience working with JSON and XML
• Practical experience with Agile software development is a plus.
• Demonstrates continuous learning of new technologies and shows interest in continuous learning and improvement.
• Self-motivated individual that thrives in a team environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to deploy product updates, identify production issues, and implement integrations that meet customer needs.

What will set you apart:

• 2+ years of experience with Salesforce Development.
• 4+ years of experience with Object Oriented Programming and related technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field of study is highly desirable.
• Experience with or desire to learn Salesforce, Omnistudio, Copado, and Amazon Web Services experience.
• Practical experience building highly scalable web applications.
• Knowledge of modern integration methods (API Gateway/Web Services, Messaging & RESTful architectures) along with preferred experience in legacy SOAP interfaces.

Base Salary Range

$101,600.00 - $143,525.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
