About the team and the role:

This role is specifically with eBay’s Focused Categories team as an MTS1 Software Engineer, Backend for Electronics. Electronics is ~ $10 bn/year category at Ebay. The Electronics Product & Engineering team is on a mission to serve these consumers, making eBay the #1 trusted global marketplace to buy as good as new products.

We are looking for an expert MTS1 Software Engineer, Backend to join the Electronics team to help us redefine the way millions of people buy and sell New and as good as new products around the globe.

What you will accomplish:

• Develop and maintain a functional domain to design cross-data center, distributed, fault-tolerant, highly available and performant web services and web applications by applying software architecture design, OOA/D skills in addition to outstanding analytical and problem solving skills
• Contribute to major projects and features from design phase to coding, testing, deployment and support
• Estimate engineering efforts, plan implementation, and rollout system changes. Identify project technical risks and make recommendations to mitigate
• Collaborate with architects in defining the technical charter for eBay’s Zero Trust Architecture products
• Work with partners to clarify requirements and deliver business solutions
• Implement RESTFul APIs

What you will bring:

• 5 to 8 years of hands-on backend experience in Java and/or Kotlin.
• Consistent track record of working on high-volume, scalable, secure, fast, reliable, and accessible web applications.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, multithreading, synchronization, and concurrent programming.
• Deep expertise in developing highly available and scalable performance systems.
• Demonstrated architectural understanding, leading projects from system design to completion.
• Proven knowledge and hands-on experience with relational databases (Oracle) and/or NoSQL data technologies (MongoDB) and related toolsets.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
