About the role
Dremio Cloud Engine and Data Plane Management team is hiring an experienced senior software engineer. In this role you will be responsible for delivering Dremio Lakehouse SaaS offering in multiple public clouds (AWS, Azure and GCP). You will be the lead for Engine Management and other K8S services that power the Dremio Query Engines in various clouds. You will tackle complex distributed systems challenges like federated authentication and authorization, building scalable and resilient services, improving overall system performance, and ensuring that the service can be operationalized effectively. This is an opportunity to join a growth stage startup and help build a highly scalable cloud service.
What you'll be doing
- Build critical multi-cloud engine management software for Dremio Cloud
- Deliver various software functions of core cloud platform - multi-tenant engine and project management software,, caching, auto-scaling, telemetry and observability, Kubernetes & container deployment models
- Develop federated authentication and authorization and other security into the platform to ensure secure operation of the multi-cloud Dremio Cloud SaaS
- Build observability, telemetry, (open)tracing and other functions to enable efficient operation of the service
- Take ownership of product development and set the direction for the Engine Management team for turning our product into a competitive advantage
- Spec, design, code, code review and test various product features collaborating with various functions of the organization
- Analyze and advocate for better technologies in multi-cloud scheduling, network access, federated security and distributed systems development
- Become a successful leader through collaboration, mentoring and developing the team
What we're looking for
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field
- 12+ years as a developer
- Strong experience in Java
- Working knowledge and hands-on experience in AWS, GCP or Azure
- Experience building scalable and resilient microservices in Kubernetes
- Building high performance and multi-tenant software
- Background in data processing, data warehouse, datalake, BI or analytics
- Effective communication skills to articulate, document and present solution plans to engineering, product management and other functions of the organization
Bonus points if you have
- Hands-on development experience building software in Azure as a service
- Data warehouse design, database systems, and large-scale data processing solutions like Hadoop and Spark
- Experience building federated authentication and authorization using OpenID Connect and Auth0
