Summary Description:

As a Staff Field Applications Engineer (FAE) based in Shenzhen and focused on video, you will help demonstrate the value of Dolby’s imaging technologies to its customers and support them in integrating the technologies into their products such as mobiles and cars. You will play an active role in Dolby’s device approval process and in resolving ecosystem issues identified with existing devices in the field. You will be the technical liaison between the customers and Dolby’s internal teams such as AE and engineering.

Essential Job Functions

• Support customers in enabling Dolby Vision in various consumer products such as mobiles and cars
• Verify proper integration of Dolby Vision into devices by following test procedures, evaluating test data, and working with customers on open issues
• Educate and work with customers to meet Dolby’s product performance expectations
• Manage the day-to-day communication on technical issues, communicating with Dolby’s AE/engineering teams and following up on outstanding technical issues both internally and externally with customers
• Understand customer requirements, delivering technical presentations, technology demonstrations, and promoting the value proposition of Dolby Vision technologies to customers
• Establish and own the relationships with technical contacts at existing and prospective customers
• Collaborate with sales to support pre-sales activities by building and delivering technical presentations and demonstrations of existing and new imaging technologies
• Domestic travel to Chinese customer sites is required, along with occasional international travel

Education, Skills, Abilities, and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years’ development experience in Android devices (e.g., mobiles/cars)
• Strong programming skills in C/C++/Java/Python language
• Useful experience includes expertise/knowledge/familiarity with any (not all) of the following areas:
  • Deep understanding of Android multimedia framework
  • Video codecs (e.g., H.265, AV1), video containers (e.g., MP4, TS), and video delivery protocols (e.g., DASH, HLS)
  • Deep understanding of ISP pipelines in phone cameras
  • Experience in PQ testing and tuning
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities when working on complex problems
• Comfortable with fast-paced scrum agile development cycle, multiple projects parallel working environment, willing to shift project priority and commitment
• Ability to understand and explain technical issues to technical and non-technical personnel
• Be able to build up and maintain business relationships with and apply strong influence on various department of customers
• Deep understanding of video formats, especially the differences between the formats, their relative strengths, and weaknesses. Thus be able to present and promote Dolby’s video technologies by providing professional level consultation
• Comprehensive written and verbal communication skills in English
