Meet the team: 

Dexcom Software R&D  

Our R&D team is looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer with experience with data engineering, mobile, and machine learning.  In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy new data products leveraging a variety of data sources. You will also drive, own technical design, development, and documentation of cross-functional and multi-platform capabilities.  You will work in collaboration with data platform engineers, algorithm developers and clinical experts to focus on key metrics for diabetic patients and clinicians.

To be successful in this position you will have experience in modern cloud-based systems (GCP, Terraform, Big Query), development experience using standard modeling and machine learning libraries, understanding of container based platforms such as Kubernetes, and mobile application development on iOS and Android.  An essential part of our design involves utilizing PAAS components. 

 

We develop software in the context of producing medical systems, which adds another level of challenge to our work as part of the software will need to pass rigorous FDA mandated quality control. 

 

Where you come in:  

  • Experience with developing full stack applications, from mobile frontends through secure endpoints running in cloud environments, to back-end services and data stores 

  • Experience in, and comfortable with, leading a team that builds components as part of a distributed environment, including version control, deployment and testing and documentation. 

  • Demonstrated technical leadership ability to identify technical challenges and appropriate solutions 

  • Strong programming skills – python, ML ecosystem tools, mobile frameworks such as Flutter 

  • Experience in building APIs and ecosystem around it using modern frameworks and technologies 

  • Familiarity using relevant, modern, software test tools and equipment 

  • Experience in building cloud-based, container components 

  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment, and possess time management skills to meet schedules and participate in the scrum

  • Strong Experience with technical decision making, architecting and leading teams to build real-world end-to-end systems 

  • Strong understanding of database systems - database design, performance tuning, etc. 

  • Able to work efficiently with Linux environment 

  • Strong CS fundamentals 

  • Willing to learn new technologies as required 

  • Experience working with NoSQL databases like Cassandra, HBase, Couchbase etc 

  • Experience working with large data sets 

  • Experience with Hadoop eco system like HDFS, Hive, MapReduce, etc. 

  • Experience working with RDBMS like Oracle, SqlServer, MySQL, etc 

  • Experience developing cloud based solutions

Experience and Education Requirements:

  •  Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 13+ years related experience or a Master’s degree and 8+ years equivalent industry experience of a PhD and 5+ years of experience.

 

Remote Workplace: Your location will be a home office; you are not required to live within commuting distance of your assigned Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km). If you reside within commuting distance of a Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km) a hybrid working environment may be available. Ask about our Flex workplace option.
