Job Description

A bit about this role:
 

The Staff Data Scientist will serve as a crucial partner to the Payment Integrity Operations team, which is responsible for managing claim audit and adjustment functions and driving projects to prevent repetitive errors. This individual will build robust data pipelines that underpin our products and operations. They will foster a data-driven culture by using their technical expertise to identify opportunities to improve key outcomes and operational efficiency. They will develop comprehensive integrations with vendors, ensuring accuracy and integrity with data exchanges, that serve critical points in our operational process to drive improvements in billing patterns and claims adjudication.

This individual will report into our Data Organization, and will work with many teams within the company (operations teams, business intelligence, product management, analytics engineering, data engineering, and software engineering) to solve key challenges for the company. 

Responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating with business leads, product managers, engineers, and business intelligence analysts to determine our most impactful work and scale our PI program with new opportunities and technology

• Leveraging domain knowledge of healthcare billing and claims processing to enable thoughtful reports and dashboards that help operations teams improve their business decision-making

• Communicating findings and their limitations to leaders and teams of varying technical backgrounds

• Working with the PI team to build out data warehousing infrastructure in Snowflake to enable a strong BI Layer in Looker as well as improve Devoted’s internal operating platform

• Using analytics techniques (i.e. statistics, machine learning, language-based techniques) to improve the speed and accuracy of our processes

Required skills and experience:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment

• 5+ years of individual technical contributor experience

• 3+ years of working on Data Science initiatives in claims, payment integrity, or medical economics

• Experience collaborating effectively with stakeholders

• Advanced SQL skills

• Experience with Python or R

• Equally comfortable building dashboards and reports for KPIs, and doing deep-dive statistical analysis; such as predictive modeling and experimental design to influence the business

Bonus:

• Experience with a Medicare Advantage plan

Salary Range:  $130,000 - $160,000 annually
