As a founding member of Datavant’s frontend initiative you will build the UX that powers our Datavant Switchboard. The Switchboard is our critical infrastructure to enable end-to-end data connectivity with our health data ecosystem - the largest in the United States. The Datavant Switchboard makes it easy for institutions in the Davatant ecosystem to connect disparate datasets, control how their data is used, and comply with applicable regulations regarding patient privacy. Your work will help us make critical architectural decisions, execute on ambitious projects, and accelerate us towards our goal of connecting the world’s health data.

We are looking for high powered generalists who will focus on the frontend, but frequently leverage your past experience and understanding of fullstack development. Our current frontend tech stack consists of TypeScript and React, but we know you can learn a new framework or language, so don’t let that stop you from applying. As the founding frontend engineer you will own frontend framework decisions, decisions around CI/CD, and best practices for frontend development at Datavant. Our ideal candidate is an experienced engineer that can take charge of researching, developing, and leading a modern, scalable approach to building and maintaining our frontend systems.

You Will Bring To The Table:

• 5+ years of professional JavaScript experience, including concepts like asynchronous programming, closure, types, and ES6
• Demonstrated experience driving change within an organization and leading complex technical projects
• Experience working in an agile development environment, ideally within a remote team
• Strong technical skills, the ability to independently research current problems and collaborate with other teammates to implement lasting solutions
• Experience with git, continuous integration and deployment tools
• Experience designing and developing highly scalable web applications with a strong sense of usability and design
• Preferred: Typescript, Python, and React experience

Our compensation philosophy is to be externally competitive, internally fair, and not win or lose on compensation. Salary ranges are developed with the support of benchmarks (competitive San Francisco rates for US-based roles) and industry best practices.

This means we default to simple job titles (e.g., Software Engineer) rather than complex ones (e.g., Senior Software Engineer). The range posted is for a given job title, which can include multiple levels. Individual rates for the same job title may differ based on their level, responsibilities, skills, and experience for a specific job. The estimated salary range for this role is $150,000 - $350,000.
