Senior Software Engineer - Data Viz (Maps)

As a software engineer for the Data Viz Maps Team, you will work with product and design to create high-scale, highly-performant interactive maps of cloud resources (example). Our mapping space covers visualizing different levels of infrastructure, as well as relationships between the components of cloud architectures. We help our customers better understand the story and health of their systems. This team combines creative technologists, product managers, and designers to build workflows enabling users to explore and gain insights from their data.

What You’ll Do: 

• Push frontend graphics to the limit in order to help users make sense of complex and high cardinality data sets through map based experiences.
• Build a set of map type visualizations which can be easily integrated & expanded upon by our frontend engineer community.
• Transform large and complex datasets to beautiful visualizations
• Work with TypeScript, React, Canvas API and WebGL
• Join a tightly knit team solving hard problems the right way

Who You Are: 

• You are a JavaScript and web frontend specialist
• You are familiar with graphics, data structures, rendering architectures, algorithms, profiling and optimization
• You have great product sense and keep the ultimate customer goal in mind
• You’re excited by interactivity, large datasets, geometry and solving other mathematical problems
• You relate to one of these profiles:
• You combine your understanding of intuitive interaction design and performance constraints to create visual layouts of information that are actionable and responsive
• You have experience with modeling large data sets, allowing for flexibility, interactivity and performance

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Datadog ranges from $187,000 - $240,000, plus a competitive equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
