Job Description
Position Senior Design Engineer
Location: East Hartford, CT
Duties: Responsible for structural analysis of components for the purpose of ensuring structural integrity using classical methods of analysis for strength of materials. Develops enhanced capabilities in finite element analysis, for the performance of structural analysis. Perform structural analyses using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and post-process results. Suggest solutions to resolve any concerns based on the stress Analysis results. Analyze stress changes due to the quality non-conformances (eQN’s) occurred at manufacturing shop floor or field, carry out the study to evaluate the effect of non-conformance and provide solution. 2D & 3D Finite Element modeling of simple, moderate, and complex components (Hexahedral & tetrahedral elements) using ANSYS-APDL or Workbench Linear and non-linear static stress analysis (Geometric, Material and contact Linearity) using ANSYS-APDL or Workbench Modal, Harmonic and transient Dynamic stress analysis using ANSYS-APDL or Workbench. Support trade studies to optimize structure and meet program requirements. Draw Free Body Diagrams based on the structural load paths. Generation of applied loads, interface loads and internal loads distributions, utilize proper understanding and recognition of structural load paths. Perform engineering calculations to validate component and system design (free body diagrams, structural analysis, vibration analysis). Travel/Relocation to other unanticipated locations throughout the US is required.
Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related + 5 years of experience as a Sr. Design Engineer, Team Leader, Design Engineer, or related and 5 years of experience in LCF Analyses, Fracture mechanics, Modal Analyses, ANSYS, Hypermesh, Workbench and Abaqus.
