The AV Frameworks team’s mission is to provide products, tools and APIs that enable AV engineers to write stable, reliable, and high performing code and to measure and maintain code at that quality. The team aims to achieve this by providing abstractions such as node frameworks, test frameworks, performance and diagnostic tooling, playbooks / guidelines that minimize complexity, volume and boilerplate code. AV Engineering teams have a clear stake in ensuring their subsystems run quickly, and AV Frameworks team provides tools, metrics and APIs to evaluate and ensure holistic system-wide performance of the AV stack in simulation and on the road. The Frameworks team owns the middleware that the AV software is built on. Our team provides:
 
  • Products, tools and API that enable AV engineers to write high quality code in C++ & Python.
  • Tools to measure and maintain code at that quality.
  • User-space API, Memory management, pub/sub patterns.
  • Thread prioritization, process/thread lifetime management.
  • Performance tooling and optimization.
What you’ll be doing:
  • Work with other teams to define the system level architecture and strategies for implementation.
  • Initiate large cross team projects with sophisticated architecture, breaking it down to the right logical components and co-ordinate execution of the project with the TPMs/Managers
  • Improve and deliver reliable software through requirements generation, design and code reviews, continuous integration, automated testing and issue monitoring.
  • Work with management to drive the technical direction of the Frameworks Organization
  • Mentor junior engineers and serves as role model for the organization.
  • Adopt, drive and encourage standard methodologies within the team and the rest of the organization.
What you must have:
  • 7+ years experience building and shipping production-quality software
    Experience building performance critical systems in C++ 11
  • Self motivation and passion to direct your teams, and constantly improve
  • Strong communication, influence, and negotiation skills. A passion to see a problem solved, regardless of the technical area or challenge where the problem lies. The desire to root-cause issues, no matter where your search may lead.
Bonus points!
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing modern C++14 / C++17 development
  • Experience with the bazel build system
  • Experience with ROS1/ROS2 and FastDDS
  • Experience working on or leading teams writing safety critical software
  • Experience with building frameworks / software infrastructure for large scale project

The salary range for this position is $234,700 - 345,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
