About the Role

Hardware systems supporting data logging and offload is a key part of managing data within Autonomous Vehicles. Across multiple generations of hardware architecture, there are similarities as well as differences in supporting data logging/offload. We are looking for a strong design engineer on the design work on platforms with cross functional teams to define, collect and manage requirements for related systems, components and interfaces. This is a very multi-functional role where the candidate will have to work with our Software, Systems and Test teams. This is a great opportunity for individuals to apply transferable skills and experience from another industry such as storage.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design and drive development, and documentation data Logging and Offload

  • Design, prototype, debug, and deliver circuits for Cruise Compute system – working with stakeholders, Sourcing, Suppliers and manufacturing

  • Tackle problems in new designs in the lab and using simulation tools

  • Collaborate with different various teams to develop, test, validate, and improve new or existing power, analog, digital, and controls circuits

  • Collaborate with strong partners including vendors, manufacturing, and internal cross-functional engineering fields to deliver highly integrated designs

  • Influence and be the key contributor to decision making processes involving hardware to meet Cruise requirements, leading the path to a predictable quality outcome.

  • Find opportunities and co-lead quality issues or improvement taskforce to contain, mitigate and resolve the top-quality issues impacting Compute and vehicle level.

  • Have the expertise to strategize process and tools to identify a robust plan for remediation activities and minimize/eliminate impact to overall quality of the product

  • Drive Compute hardware reliability improvements, working with the validation and Manufacturing Quality team, through failure analysis, and root cause using a combination of Cruise and supplier resources.

  • Partner across the organization to streamline the processes on how we drive, measure, and execute on manufacturing quality across our Suppliers

  • Partner with Leadership and teams to create an inclusive environment that attracts and retains successful engineers.

  • Good partners, as we design and collaborate across many teams across the company.

What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Ten or more years industry experience in design engineering roles with consistent record of shipping products

  • Experience ability to developing solutions for complex programs and complete Hardware projects involving multiple team members

  • Experience with board level circuit design

Bonus points!

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Cadence ( OrCAD and Allegro) experience

  • Embedded processors / microcontrollers

  • Hands on testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of board level circuit designs

 

The salary range for this position is $170,000 - 250,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
