Cruise is looking for a Senior Analysis Systems Engineer to develop data-driven insights on the performance of our autonomous car and design analysis systems to drive continuous improvement of our software stack. In this position, you’ll have the chance to work on our AV technology and have a hand in nearly every component of a technically sophisticated autonomous system.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own analysis pipelines of Autonomous Vehicle (AV) data to quantify software performance over releases 

  • Conduct end-to-end analysis including data gathering requirements specifications,  novel root-cause analysis, presentations, etc.

  • Build on automations through application development, scripting, and data pipelines to ingest, process, and diagnose AV event data. 

  • Build data tools and visualizations to enable data-driven decision making

  • Develop methods to analyze and compare the impact of software changes on relevant performance metrics

  • Translating data and analysis into impactful recommendations and presenting to cross-functional leaders 

  • Work with engineers and data scientists to define outcome metrics and success criteria

  • Build and manage relationships with all relevant stakeholders

 

What you must have:

  • Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Analytics or another related field, or equivalent related professional experience.

  • Experience in systems engineering, software engineering, data analysis, data science, statistical analysis, or other related fields

  • You have experience working with large datasets, SQL, and Python and visualizing data using Looker, Tableau, Power BI, etc.

  • You enjoy developing new ways to diagnose the behavior of the system and evaluate performance across many variables

  • Strong technical and non-technical communication skills

  • Critical thinking skills - interpret what the data is telling us, and which analyses will reveal impactful conclusions

 

Bonus points!

  • Ability to identify and act on opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency

  • Experience with Jira, Asana, monday.com, or other project management tools (API experience preferred) 

  • Jupyter, Spark, or other data processing tools

  • Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, vehicle development or ADAS development

  • Excited to keep on top of data analytics tools that change and improve rapidly over time

  • Ability to act as a leader within the team to spread knowledge and best methodologies

 

The salary range for this position is $146,300 - 215,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
