About Our Team
Cross River’s team is made up of problem solvers hungry to build and perfect new products and systems. We work with team members in most US time zones. Although we are in separate places, we still make space to know one another and have fun! We collaborate, help and mentor each other, and check in on our progress and blocks frequently. We work together primarily with Slack, GitHub, JIRA, and Zoom.
What We’re Looking for
- Cloud Engineer is a critical role for Cross River and will report to Data Platform Head.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and automate Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure of the data platform
- Design, write and deliver cloud infrastructure automation to improve availability, scalability, latency, and performance
- Assess and recommend various software architectures and build frameworks, optimizing across cost, performance, resiliency/fault tolerance, load balancing and data consistency
- Establish self-service build, release, and deployment platform for engineers to help increase data pipeline delivery sophistication
- Audit, review, and report on operational and security status of cloud environment
- Establish, manage and maintain monitoring platforms and alerts
- Document the design, operation, and troubleshooting procedures of cloud platforms
- Manage and maintain disaster recovery and backup services
- Champion Linux system administration best practices in cloud systems
- Debug complex issues and performance problems throughout the stack
- Leverage source code management best practices including git, pull requests, code reviews
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years DevOps and infrastructure management experience
- 5+ years’ experience in cloud platform administration on AWS
- 5+ years APM and infrastructure monitoring experience
- 3+ years’ experience in server configuration management with Ansible, Puppet or Chef
- 3+ years’ experience with Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS, EKS)
- 2+ years automating resources of an AWS multi-account architecture with Terraform
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, immutable infrastructure, automation, and orchestration and other modern DevOps patterns.
- Experience in Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Continuous Deployment software tools to support, enhance and grow our CI and CD capabilities
- Strong knowledge of IT Security (encryption, firewalls, secure systems design, vulnerability management, secure software design, credential management, proxies, WAFs, etc.)
- Have a deep understanding of core AWS networking services and their resources such as VPCs, NACLs, Security Groups, VPC Endpoints, Load Balancers, Subnets, Peering, etc., and know how to effectively use (and implement) said services in application architectures.
- Experience isolating and securing environments using network configurations, IAM roles, and KMS-based encryption.
- Experience in one or more of the following languages: Python, Go, Java, Bash
- Solid background in Linux server system administration
- Experience with Snowflake administration and automation a plus

Salary Range: $180,000.00-$250,000.00
