Role Overview:

• Coupang Ads is the advertising platform team within Coupang. We are

a globally distributed team focused on delivering advertising solutions

for those that sell products on our platform. This includes display,

search, performance, brand and video ads offerings.

• The Coupang Ads Sales Strategy and Operations Data Science team is

responsible for developing innovative, data driven solutions to help

Coupang Demand teams deliver strong CX for customers and in return,

drive predictable revenue growth. We work closely with ads team,

leveraging a range of advertising customer, end user, ecommerce,

advertising, product and finance data to identify unique insights and

help accelerate our sales teams. We bring data together to generate

actionable insights, answer complex business questions, and help us

deepen our understanding of Customers and what it takes to drive

impact via our sales organisation.

• Build high performance ML based models and insight for the Coupang

Ads Demand team. You will be a thought partner to our sales, strategy,

operations, product and finance stakeholders and identify innovative

and scalable methods to unlock revenue from more advertisers.

• Strong business acumen with a deep understanding of key business

metrics and the ability to leverage data insights to drive growth and

achieve tangible business outcomes.

• Work with product, finance and engineering partners help identify and

answer important “why” questions related to seasonality, high impact

patterns that drive customer as well as sales team success. You will lead

efforts to structure ambiguous business challenges into actionable

plans, ensure that your team is producing consistently trustworthy and

high-quality technical outputs that influence the business and drive

data-driven decision-making.

• Communicate complex analytical findings and insights to both

technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

• Be a champion for building highly talented and diverse teams with an

inclusive culture.

 

• High value actions : Identifying factors across a range of factors

including customer profile, usage sophistication, ads performance, CX,

ROI, pricing and seasonality to identify high value actions that demand

teams can double down on to deliver customer ROI, improve retention

and accelerate revenue

• Seasonality and forecasting : design and maintain ecommerce, ad

revenue and season-specific forecasting models as a critical component

of the sales demand process. Leverage these to underpin proactive

sales motions by demand teams Assist with analyzing sales patterns to

identify trends and aid financial forecasting

• Segmentation: Develop new segmentation based on sales interactions

with customers (nudges, pitches, meetings, exchange of materials, etc.)

as well as customers’ adoption of recommendation, usage of ad

products, performance and churn; to ultimately provide greater insight

to sales teams and underpin efforts to align the way we are organized

to better address customer needs

• Insights and Metrics : deliver a set of Key Performance Indicators and

insights from models and analyses; share widely with product and

engineering teams to incorporate into existing and new product

features.

• A/B Testing : design, conduct, analyze and uncover insights from A/B

tests to inform and prioritize product iterations. Do this with statistical

rigor and perform cohort studies to answer “why?” on test result drivers

• Machine learning - Help improve and / or build Ads prediction and

recommendation models to drive positive value for business, advertiser

and consumers.

• Tell a Concise Story – At completion of Tests, build timely, compelling,

fact-based test recaps that strongly communicate the business ‘story’

behind the data and test outcomes.

 

Basic Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience as a Scientist &

Analyst performing ads data science, Experimentation, business

analysis, financial analysis, market research , and executive reporting.

• Ability to lead a team of Data scientists and/or data analysts

• Deep understanding of ML model performance and improving

accuracy to generate positive business outcomes

• Strong SQL

• Python (or R) for statistical analysis

• Hive, Presto, Airflow

• Excellent quantitative analysis skills

• Strong communication skills

• Highly organized and detail-oriented

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously for multiple

stakeholders in a fast-paced organization

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong statistics background

• Machine Learning experience

• Previous experience in AdTech / Advertising (search, display, branding,

retargeting, social, streaming video...), Digital Marketing, Ad Agency, or

related domains.

• Data visualization (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, Looker, Power BI)

• PhD or Master's degree in a technical field
