Engineering Manager - Developer Advocacy Team

The Developer Advocacy Team is responsible for the design and development of tools, frameworks, sample applications, example code, documentation, guided tours, videos, and tutorials to ease the use of Couchbase by developers and customers and guide the team in the activities mentioned above. As an Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in tracking, helping prioritise and unblocking the team. You will join a team that is the voice of Couchbase within the developer communities and an advocate for the developers. You'll drive both software development and advocacy.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline 
• 6-8 years of experience in software development, with at least 2 of them leading teams
• Solid knowledge of Agile-related approaches including SCRUM, Kanban, Lean Startup, Design Thinking and 
• Experience with Jira and implementing Agile techniques in a software delivery environment
• Strong working knowledge of Project Management software tools and can build work breakdown structures, project schedules, risk registers, generate reports and other programmatic artifacts.
• Comfortable with one or more programming languages such as Java, .Net, Node, Python, Ruby, Golang, Rust, or PHP is highly desired.
• Solid understanding of the Test Plan, code promotion, deployment, and release processes.
• Experience working with Cloud Computing
• The ability to handle multiple projects with different stakeholders, ensuring their expectations are well-managed and aligned
• The ability to work autonomously.

Preferred Qualifications:

• You are a community enthusiast and have made contributions to open-source projects.
• Experience with NoSQL Databases (Couchbase, MongoDB, Neo4J, Cassandra, DynamoDb, Redis, and/or Memcached, etc )
• Strong leadership and analytical skills in combination with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Solid database experience
• Validated agile learning/credentials such as CSM, A-CSM, SA, PSM, IC Agile such as Client (IC-Agile, IC-Agile ATF(Agile Team Facilitator)

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the team in writing stories and make appropriate commitments through story selection and task definition, identifying and removing impediments. 
• Organizing and facilitating daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum/Kanban-related meetings 
• Manage JIRA board and backlog for sprint execution
• Tracking and communicating team velocity and sprint/release progress, maintaining process documentation
• Preventing distractions that interfere with the ability of the team to deliver on release goals; facilitating discussion and conflict resolution

Work Location: Bangalore, The Candidate is expected to work from the office 3 days a week.
