Principal Engineer, Containers and Platform

In this role you will lead the design and architecture of the sensor product, focusing on product services (install/upgrade, manageability, telemetry, etc) and the framework for integrating network scanners from other teams for use across appliance, virtual, cloud, and Corelight SaaS offerings.

Role                                            

• Drive overall software product architecture, working closely with Product and other technical leaders
• Provide technical leadership in planning, development, and execution of software efforts
• Design and implement functionality with a test-driven approach
• Evaluate new projects and changes in design for security implications, and work with design teams to mitigate and resolve based on value/impact/effort balance
• Design and build prototype solutions
• Engage in hands-on, in-depth analysis, review, and design of the software, including technical review and analysis of source code. Will include reviews of in-house developed code, as well as review of technologies provided by third party vendors
• Conduct ongoing analysis of our architecture and designs, facilitate and perform various tests and reviews of our code, products, services and infrastructure

Requirements

• 8+ years of Enterprise software design, development, and release experience.
• 8+ years of development experience with two or more of the following languages: Golang, Python, C++
• 6+ years of design and hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Containers. 
• Experience with distributed large-scale systems, with some focus towards API based development.
• Experience with Cloud Infrastructure and Services is a plus.
• Experience with Zeek, Suricata or Linux based development is a plus.
• Effective communicator and ability to collaborate across stakeholders
• Possess strong organizational skills, both for yourself and for the team while working with many people in a fast-paced environment

Notice of Pay Transparency:
The compensation for this position ranges from $199,000 - $244,000/year and may vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.  Depending on the nature and seniority of the role, a percentage of compensation may come in the form of a commission-based or discretionary bonus.  Equity and additional benefits will also be awarded.
