About the Role:

The cloud platform relies on a massively scalable infrastructure that enables low-latency, high throughput operations to power all critical workflows in Confluent Cloud. This infrastructure enables end to end management, monitoring, elasticity, orchestration of the entire cloud ecosystem. We are looking for a senior leader to lead architectural transitions to build regional infrastructure and footprint. In this role, we are excited for you to drive the vision, lay the roadmap, and build out a high-performing engineering organization.

What You Will Do:

• Build a regional infrastructure footprint to help scale Confluent Cloud into the new era of regional compute and regional services.
• Uplevel and overhaul operational posture and excellence of the cloud infrastructure to support 10x scale.
• Build core platform technology pieces that can operate and scale across top three cloud providers - AWS, Azure, GCP.
• Design automations, platforms, best practices and tools to enable disaster recovery of data stores, stateful systems and stateless systems.
• Partner with senior leadership in R&D to drive cultural, technical, people and process improvements in a growing organization.

What You Will Bring:

• 8+ years of engineering management experience leading productive, collaborative, high-functioning teams.
• Experience building, managing and running large scale distributed systems in the cloud (databases, workflows, cluster management, data infrastructure).
• Demonstrated experience in effectively influencing and working with the exec team using effective communication and collaborative techniques. 
• 5+ years developing cloud infrastructure software at scale
• A strong engineering background in distributed storage systems or databases or compute

We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location. This position has an annual estimated salary of $210,600 - $231,660 USD, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package.
