The role

Clockwise is looking to hire an Infrastructure-focused Engineer with backend chops who is passionate about the developer tools, infrastructure, and systems that provide our customers with reliable, secure, and scalable software. We value engineers who build for the end user, find fun in difficult problems, sweat the details, and love pushing code. We're a humble, fast-moving, and fun team building a consumer-centric culture with empathy, authenticity, focus, drive, curiosity, and enthusiasm.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain scalable systems on Docker and Kubernetes
• Help architect back-end systems that deliver real-time, intelligent features
• Improve our developer experience to increase leverage and productivity
• Help build an engineering culture of continuous delivery, and the tools to support it
• Identify, investigate, and solve complex problems across systems, tools and environments
• Contribute to high level strategic decisions
• Bring energetic and excited interest in automating everything (build, test, release/deploy, monitoring, reporting)
• Directly influence our feature roadmap

About you

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with AWS (or Google Cloud / Azure)
• Can write high quality code in a programming language (e.g. Java, Go, Python)
• Strong technical aptitude and exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
• Expertise modeling data (relational and non-relational) as well as processing information at scale
• Ability to appropriately prioritize and respond to different escalations
• Fantastic troubleshooting and analytical skills, drive to help customers, and the ability to dive deep and learn a new product.
• Experience and desire to work cross-functionally. Team and goal-oriented. High output; low ego
• Passionate about productivity tools and workflows
• A security-oriented mindset that you love promoting to others

Please note that we’re open to employees located anywhere in the domestic United States.

In-Office: For those who wish to have a physical office to return to, we also offer a flexible option to work from our San Francisco HQ. We have a beautiful, fun, spacious office where everyone can work productively and collaboratively. Our San Francisco HQ is located in the Financial District, a block from the Montgomery Street Muni & Bart station.

Pay Transparency

Clockwise employs pay transparency as one of several systems to ensure pay fairness and employee retention. Below is the approved base salary range for this position. It does not include total compensation factors like benefits, health insurance, and the value of Clockwise equity.

Salary range: $160,000 - $230,000

The final salary offered to a candidate may be higher or lower dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, market rate, the qualified pool of candidates, internal compensation, candidate experience, interview performance, references, and budgetary constraints.
