Lead Software Engineer

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Chemical Search Toolkit team in Barcelona supporting new and existing software applications. This is an amazing opportunity to help positively reshape, grow, and support our application functionally into new frameworks within our fully cloud native environment, leveraging the latest in serverless technologies. 

We have a great skill set in microservice development and we would love to speak with you if you have a Java background and are looking to expand your skill set.

About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

• Minimum 5 years of experience developing software in Java.
• Minimum 5 years experience with front-end web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Angular.
• Minimum 5 years of experience working in Unix/Linux environments.
• Experience in writing Unit test cases.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Good understanding of software development principles, including Distributed System, object-oriented programming, Design Patterns, and SOLID principles
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

It would be great if you also had . . .

• Experience using Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with AWS cloud services (EKS, EMR, EC2, S3, RDS, SQS)
• Experience with SQL databases (eg Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL, etc.)
• Experience programming using Python for data development
• Very strong interpersonal skills and an easygoing personality.
• Highly proactive, result-oriented, and a team player.

What will you be doing in this role?

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.
• Develop Strong Architecture and Design using best practices, patterns, and business acumen.
• Learn independently, and self-directed in researching solutions
• Design and produce clean code.
• Work closely with other teams (e.g., QA, Product, Data Science) to release high-quality software.
• Build secure and scalable web services.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues that arise during development, testing, and production.
• Support our existing data driven software application updating our ETL pipelines, backend services, and front-end UI

Hours of Work

This is a permanent full-time position, we work regular CET hours in Europe.
