The Research Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us architect and build our next generation data platforms. You'll work closely with our researchers and engineers to improve the way we interact with large data sets to make trading decisions. You'll lead major, high-impact projects and mentor junior engineers along the way.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, build and maintain highly scalable data pipelines across our on-prem and cloud platforms, starting from ingesting raw market captures, to normalizing data into internal formats used by quantitative researchers to develop insights on trading strategies
- Set the vision for how we build and prioritize automation and tooling to improve end-to-end resiliency, visibility and traceability
- Partner with quantitative researchers and developers to design and deploy solutions that accommodate their data needs
- Monitor intra-day and nightly data pipeline jobs/tasks
- Maintain and improve CI/CD and regression test suite for data pipeline
- Troubleshoot and engage in forensic analysis of detailed data questions
- Ongoing performance analysis and tuning of the cloud platform and pipeline components
Qualifications
- At least 5+ years of experience building software in the following languages:
- C/C++ development
- Python development (using pandas and numpy on timeseries data is a plus)
- Experience with building large ETL pipelines or tick data management and research engineering tools in the financial industry
- Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols. Hands-on experience with packet analysis tools a plus
- Ability to understand the high-level business problem, and create and execute a solution
- Leadership experience is a plus
- Understanding of computer architecture and ability to optimize system performance
- Web development (e.g., distributed service architectures, Python/Flask, NodeJS, React, etc.) is a plus
- Proficiency with RDBMS and SQL
- Familiarity with cloud technologies, ideally Azure and AWS
