Staff Software Engineer

Chewy’s Pet Health team is on a mission to build innovative solutions for our customers and our partner vets, such as our recent launch of Chewy’s first Telehealth service and Compounding Pharmacy. Engineering plays a critical role in defining and executing our platform roadmap. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Pet Health development team, specifically supporting PracticeHub which is our vet facing B2B platform, you will lead engineering in the build of robust, resilient products and services on a scalable platform. Your goal will be to architect and build production-ready code and champion CI/CD processes to ensure speed and quality. You will be providing technical guidance and coaching to teams of high caliber engineers. Your work will directly impact tens of millions of customers who care for their furry family members every day! 

What You'll Do:

• Play a hands-on lead engineer to design, build, deploy and scale a complete platform.
• Hold a high bar for the quality of the architecture and design of systems.
• Define and communicate clear design patterns and coding standards. 
• Actively mentor engineers, build and foster a strong engineering team culture, and be a key contributor in raising the bar of the engineering org delivering measurable code.
• Build a culture of innovation through rapid prototyping and continuous delivery to production. 
• Instill engineering excellence in the team and have the drive to focus on scalability, resiliency, high availability and performance of applications.

What You'll Need:

• 10+ years of Software Engineering experience  
• Experience leading the design, build, deployment, and scaling of a complete platform 
• Experience with frameworks like Spring Boot for RESTful APIs and microservices 
• Experience with scalable cloud platforms and building & developing CI/CD pipelines using Docker and Jenkins 
• Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or similar technical field of study preferred), or equivalent work experience 
• Strong fundamentals on building and scaling cloud-based solutions (AWS).

Bonus:

• Experience in Kubernetes and Helm Charts 
• Experience in frontend web technologies and frameworks such as React, Angular and TypeScript 
• Experience in e-commerce or Healthcare
