Meet Discovery team @ Chewy. We use best of machine learning techniques and continuously test the outcomes to simplify product discovery for pet parents looking for their pet needs on Chewy.com. Our exceptional multi-disciplinary team of data scientists, data engineers, software engineers and product managers work together to power personalized recommendations and product discovery for pet parents. Our team has single threaded ownership of the space allowing us to decide impactful products that we can experiment, measure with metrics and deliver at a fast pace.

We are hiring a Staff Business Intelligence Engineer for our Discovery team in Bellevue, WA. In this position, you will help us build scalable, robust analytics solutions for product Discovery at Chewy. You will demonstrate a passion for delivering outstanding customer experience, experience of building scalable solutions and will bring communication skills that allow you to instill trust in the team that you are working with.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Designing, developing, troubleshooting, evaluating, deploying, and documenting data management and business intelligence systems, enabling stakeholders to manage the business and make effective decisions.
  • Work with business customers in understanding the business requirements and implementing solutions to support analytical and reporting needs.
  • Design and implement an analytical environment using third-party and in-house reporting tools, modeling metadata, building reports & dashboards and providing our customers timely, flexible and structured access to their data.
  • Ensuring completeness and compatibility of the technical infrastructure to support system performance, availability and architecture requirements
  • Reviewing and participating in testing of the data design, tool design, data extracts/transforms, product analytics and experimentation
  • Implement training and documentation solutions that enable business stakeholders to get the most out of our self-serve reporting tools.

What You’ll Need:

  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience with detailed knowledge of BI data warehouse technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools
  • 8+ years of experience with BI/visualization tools like Tableau/BO/OBIEE etc.
  • 5+ years of work experience in building self-serve BI solutions, canned reports and enterprise level BI solutions
  • 4+ years of experience with data modeling in large Data warehousing, data lake environment
  • 4+ years of data science experience with building regression, classification models
  • 3+ years of experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software
  • Exposure to Big Data stack environments (EMR, Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive)
  • Advanced analytical skills with excellent knowledge of SQL and advance SQL
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with A/B Testing & Optimization techniques

Bonus:

  • Experience in gathering requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting
  • Experience building on AWS QuickSight, ElasticCache etc
  • Experience with statistical models and building predictive models from scratch
  • Experience with building NLP and sentiment analysis
Compensation & Benefits
 
The salary range for this position is $107,000-$215,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.
