Our Opportunity:

Chewy is seeking a bright and curious MDM Data Engineer lll to manage Chewy’s Master Data Management Solution.  Come be a part of the exciting initiative of developing and growing Chewy’s MDM solution.  Currently there are five domains within the MDM: Clinic, Vet, Customer and Pet data.  As a MDM Data Engineer lll, you will be able to use your expertise and knowledge of Master Data Management and data management best practices, in expanding the Clinic data domain and developing and deploying the Vet, Customer, and Pet, data domains.  You will be responsible for all aspects of the MDM solution for all domains. Which includes time estimation, work break down, design, data modeling, coding, deployments, enhancements and all support maintenance.

What you will do:

  • Partner with cross functional teams (architecture, software engineering, and Product and Business Operations), understand the challenges they are experiencing working with the master data, either through creation integration and/or consumption.
  • Develop, test, maintain, and enhance each MDM domain; ensuring the solution supports both operational use cases and well as analytical with consistent, quality, and reliable data.
  • Create repeatable automated test cases to increase the effectiveness and timeliness of future deployments.
  • Perform root cause and impact analysis for technical and data quality issues.  Participate in data discovery for new data sources, third party data acquisitions to help inform design, technical requirements, and business rules.
  • Develop and maintain actionable monitoring of the performance of the tool, the accuracy of the rules, and the quality of the data, to proactively identify opportunity or potential issues that will impact the business.  Determine root causes and impacts, and work with partner teams on next steps.

 What you will need:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Engineering, Data Management, with at least 5+years of experience working with a Master Data Management Solution.
  • The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator who is comfortable leading cross-functional initiatives and has a passion to see the impact of their work come to life.
  • Strong Data Engineering skills with a working understanding of MDM solutions, Kafka, AWS, Data Modeling, Query optimization, API experience, and system monitoring.
  • An ability to develop production level code that can be implemented at an organization level.
  • Experience interpreting data, designing metrics, and analyzing results using exploratory as well as statistical techniques.
  • Experience presenting a design to varying partners.
  • Excellent technical skills and a strong passion for data analysis and investigation and should also be intellectually curious in the quest for quality data.
  • A self-starter mentality and an ability to operate within a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.
  • Proven analytic skills using SQL, or Python.

Bonus:

  • Experience using any MDM solution: e.g., IBM, Informatica, Ataccama, etc.
  • Previous experience with pet healthcare data and/or retail data.
