THE ROLE
As an Associate Data Engineer you will work in the Data Ops team building and maintaining data systems to ensure data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization.
You will collaborate with software developers and business teams to create data models that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility and supporting data initiatives to ensure data delivery is consistent throughout all of our ongoing projects.
In the DataOps team you will be a self-motivated and engaging engineer who understands the importance of customer-centric solutions. You will work with ambiguous projects, and you will drive innovation through rapid collaboration with your peers and also with colleagues from other parts of the organization.
The DataOps team delivers customer-centric predictive insights to our core business functions. We do this using a hybrid analytics stack built upon AWS and with our event-driven microservices architecture based on Python models.
The ideal candidate will be a graduate with an IT, Computer Sciences or related degree. New graduates who can demonstrate the right aptitude, skills and enthusiasm will be considered or a Software Engineer candidate with a keen interest in Data Engineering. In both cases you will have a passion for data management, data analysis and product quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participate in the creation of new data models, shadowing more experienced Data Engineers.
  • Engage in technical discussions for improvement of ETL processes, data lake, data warehouse and big data.
  • Using data visualization tools, create interactive dashboards and reports to provide actionable insights to our stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with more experienced team members performing data analysis to obtain knowledge and insights for all departments.
  • Implement processes and systems to monitor data cleanliness and data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available.
  • Assist building out API integrations to support increases in data volume and complexity.
  • Provide support for data systems in production, ensuring data availability and resolving issues promptly.
  • Grow existing documentation of data processes, data models, and system configurations filling detected gaps in our knowledge base.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science is essential
  • A Master's degree in Computer Science is desirable
  • Experience in data processing with Python is essential
  • Knowledge about  ETL processes or data models
  • Knowledge about Cloud Computing is a plus (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
  • Knowledge about BI and data visualization is desirable
  • Experience working with unstructured datasets is desirable
  • Experience with API integration is desirable
  • Experience with Relational Database, Data Warehouse and Data Lake technologies is desirable
  • Experience working in agile environments is desirable
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to various audiences is desirable
  • To be a team oriented, proactive and self-motivated individual
  • English professional working proficiency is essential
