The Summer Internship Program allows students the opportunity to work on meaningful, business-essential projects that will give them the hands-on experience they need to build a solid foundation for their future. The program targets undergraduate students between their junior and senior year, and acts as a pipeline for full-time employment. As an intern, students will have the opportunity to participate in a formalized program, designed to increase knowledge of Cardinal Health and the healthcare industry, as well as develop essential leadership skills and interview for full-time employment upon successful completion of the internship program.

Locations: Florida – DeLand

Start Date: May 20 or 28, 2024

Hours: Approximately 40 hours a week for a minimum of 10 weeks

As a Automation Engineering Intern, you could potentially support the organization in several of the following ways:

  • Support the Automation Team by participating in design reviews, FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing and SAT. ( Site Acceptance Testing)
  • Review existing manual manufacturing processes and work with the Automation Team and automation suppliers to develop automation concepts.
  • Automation Engineering is responsible for developing manufacturing processes, production floor layouts and associated tools. 
  • Reviews new designs for manufacturability.
  • Designs process improvements to reduce product cost, process cycle time and improved product quality.

Accountabilities in this role:

  • Applies working knowledge in the application of concepts, principles and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks.
  • Works on projects of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Identifies possible solutions to a variety of technical problems and takes action to resolve.
  • Applies judgment within defined parameters.
  • Receives general guidance and may receive more detailed instruction on new projects.
  • Work reviewed for sound reasoning and accuracy.

Qualifications:

For consideration in the Cardinal Health summer 2024 internship program, you must meet a combination of the following requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or a related field, preferred
  • Expected graduation of winter 2024 or spring 2025, preferred
  • Previous manufacturing environment experience, preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication and analytical skills
  • Participation in extracurricular activities, community organizations and/or professional associations
  • Must have unlimited work authorization in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
