About the Role: 

As a Cloud Network Engineer at Capella, you will help us build new network segments, improve traffic and data flow in existing ones, and develop new approaches to existing, unsolved, challenges. 

You will operate at all levels within the network stack at Capella, including Firewall policy management, Cloud-native network design and implementation (e.g. AWS VPC, Security Groups, etc.), inter-environment routing and connectivity (e.g. AWS Transit Gateway), and more! You’re an independent problem solver that seeks out ways to make our systems better, learns best practices, and wants to help build out the infrastructure that enables our mission. As part of the SecOps team, you’ll interact daily with other infrastructure teams, software engineers, and platform engineers to develop and maintain a highly performant and secure cloud network. 

We expect all SecOps team members to work on a variety of problems across the Security Operations space, be familiar with industry security practices, and be capable of incorporating secure design into the foundational architecture of all systems. 

This position is available in San Francisco, CA, Boulder, CO, or Remote (US). 

Requirements: 

Ideal Qualifications 

• Deep knowledge in one or more areas of networking technology, whether traditional or cloud-based. 
• Intermediate or better experience working with cloud technologies, network related or otherwise. 
• Excellent communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with stakeholder teams, and an understanding of how to balance performance and availability needs with security requirements. 
• Experience working with source control systems, and specifically some form of Infrastructure as Code technology. 
• Comfortable dealing with unknowns, quantifying risk, addressing uncertainty, and developing solutions compatible with a fast-paced development environment powering critical systems. 
• Inefficient network design and bottlenecks annoy you. 
• You are unwilling to ignore dangerous or poorly performing network segments without developing a solution to address the problem.
