TITLE: Extraction Software Engineer 

LOCATION: New York, NY or Remote 

SALARY: $120,000 - $155,000 

 

The Role: 

Document extraction technology is at the heart of the Canoe software products that are revolutionizing the alternative investments industry.  Canoe is looking for an experienced software engineer to join the Extraction team and help build the next-gen platform for this product.  As a member of this team you will drive the design and implementation of an event-driven architecture that will enable delivery of customer value at ever increasing scale and efficiency.

 

 What You’ll Do: 

• Quickly gain in-depth understanding of how Canoe technology automates the accurate extraction of data from proprietary financial documents  
• Translate product designs for features that increase document extraction capabilities and accuracy into detailed technical specs that enable efficient implementation
• Reliably implement features and improvements while maintaining high standards for clean code and quality
• Innovate and identify opportunities for increasing value to customers based on growing knowledge of the industry and technology space
• Review and provide constructive feedback on technical designs and code produced by your teammates
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of your team and Canoe engineering through proactive brainstorming, presentation of ideas and mentoring 

 

What We’re Looking For:

• Full stack software engineer with experience designing and implementing robust applications at scale 
• Commitment to delivering quality code with automated tests
• Advanced problem solving and debugging skills
• Deep knowledge of at least one commonly used high-level programming language
• Experience with database design and development
• Comfortable in a highly collaborative agile environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred: 

• Product development on event-driven architectures
• Shipping cloud-based software in a startup environment
• Fintech and/or alternative investment experience
• PHP/Laravel, Python, TypeScript
• AWS
• MySQL
• Vue.js
