TITLE: Craftsmanship Software Engineer 

LOCATION: New York, NY or Remote 

SALARY: $120,000 - $155,000 

 

The Role:

Canoe is seeking an experienced software engineer to join a newly forming Software Craftsmanship team that will lead and evolve the quality strategy for all of Canoe software.  As a member of this team you will contribute to innovations that drastically improve how applications are built, bringing quality and automation to the forefront of the development process.  This is a unique opportunity to have a large impact on all aspects of software development culture at Canoe.

 

 What You’ll Do: 

• Lead by example by refactoring existing code for improved testability, performance, observability, and extensibility
• Write and maintain a suite of unit and automated integration tests that other engineers will want to reference when defining their own test plans
• Mentor other engineers to be obsessed with delivering high quality software and to design with testability in mind
• Evangelize and drive development concepts towards zero defects, high development velocity, maximum observability of our software platform
• Contribute to the creation of testing standards, observability metrics, tools and patterns that promote quality reporting, observability and continuous delivery all across all Canoe application development

 

What We’re Looking For:

• You are an experienced software engineer with a recent focus on application development or as an SDET
• You have designed, implemented, and enforced testing strategies for web applications with one or more of the following frameworks: PHP/Laravel, Python/Django, Ruby On Rails or similar
• You apply clean code standards and SOLID principles in your day to day work, and provide constructive feedback guiding others to do the same

Preferred: 

• Familiarity with browser automation testing tools such as Cypress and Selenium
• Familiarity with SQL and relational database
