About the role:

As an Exploratory UX (User Experience) Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that medical devices and systems are designed with the end-users in mind. Your work will directly impact patient safety, clinician efficiency, and overall healthcare outcomes. You’ll collaborate closely with clinicians, researchers, and product development teams to identify and address unmet clinical needs through a human-centered design approach.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Work closely with and observe clinicians and hospital staff in their environment to understand their needs and pain points
• Develop user profiles and use flow analysis of clinical staff in complex endoscopic procedures
• Develop and maintain relationships with current and new clinical partners
• Host cross functional team meetings to distill observations and learnings into clear and consolidated unmet needs
• Partner with technical product development staff to brainstorm new product concepts and prototypes.
• Guide product development projects by inputting clinical and customer knowledge throughout the product development lifecycle
• Plan and conduct usability evaluations
• Present data and findings to senior leadership to inform strategy.
• Mentor other staff in clinical practice, human centered design and Voice of Customer data collection
• Requires 30% travel domestic and international to visit healthcare providers and attend industry events

Required qualifications:

• Education – Minimum Bachelor of Science in either engineering, industrial design, human factors, or related field
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in human factors, engineering, design, or other product development related field
• Experience leading small teams through product development activities e.g. need finding, design or redesign, problem solving, use flow analysis, ethnography
• Travel – approximately 30% travel to healthcare facilities and industry events
• Flex work hours approximating 9-5 EST

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience using Biodesign or similar methodologies to drive innovation within a medical device environment
• Masters degree or equivalent in Human Centered Design, Human Factors Engineering, or Industrial Design
• Experience leading large teams through complex product development activities e.g. need finding, design or redesign, problem solving, use flow analysis, ethnography
• Experience with endoscopic imaging solutions and capital equipment
