Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is looking for a Space Satellite Software Testbeds & Simulation Manager to join our Space Mission Systems (SMS) Satellite Systems Space Software Products team in El Segundo, CA.

The ideal candidate will lead a diverse technical team providing software design, development, and sustainment, focusing on high-fidelity/hardware-in-the-loop satellite flight software testbeds and satellite simulation/digital-twin software.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads engineers performing technical and programmatic activities in the area of Software Engineering, focusing on:
    • Satellite flight software testbeds
      • Supporting integration/test of embedded/real-time flight software onto high-fidelity satellite hardware emulation platforms
      • Developing testbed infrastructure software to facilitate the qualification testing of flight software within high-fidelity satellite hardware emulation platforms
    • Satellite Simulator / Digital Twin software
      • Developing high-fidelity, software-only, full-satellite emulation platforms to facilitate satellite/ground system integration testing and training 
  • Develops software estimates/impacts in response to requests for new business proposals
  • Develops and implements project and process plans across multiple program areas
  • Implements policies and procedures, and sets operational goals
  • Performs staffing function for a software testbed/simulation engineering team across a diverse program portfolio
  • Leads a group of roughly 25 engineers
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, program partners, and team members
  • Provides guidance and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes
  • Encourages continuous improvement, safety, risk management, and quality in engineering
  • Inspires change, efficiency, innovative process improvement, and exploration of new technologies
  • Champions Agile software development and DevSecOps constructs

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at El Segundo, CA.

This position requires the ability to obtain a Top-Secret US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  Ability to obtain a final Top-Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Experience with full software development process
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing projects and/or teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • An existing Top-Secret US Security clearance highly preferred
  • Experience with leading/managing software teams developing high-fidelity testbeds/emulation platforms for complex space hardware systems
  • Experience working with multidiscipline engineering teams (e.g., systems/test engineers, electrical engineers, software engineers) and integrating/testing software within complex systems
  • Experience with the software development lifecycle process and procedures
  • Experience with DevSecOps / Continuous Integration (CI) process and tooling (e.g., GitLab)
  • Experience with EVMS
  • Experience with managing Risks, Issues, and Opportunities

Travel:

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.  Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Summary pay range for Associate: $141,950.00 - $192,050.00
