Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Processes and Tools team is seeking an Experienced Electrical Systems Design Engineer to join their team in Everett, WA.

Position Summary:

The Experienced Systems Process Engineer will be responsible for creating and developing Airplane Systems processes and tools to establish consistency and effectiveness within the organization and Airplane programs. This role will involve analyzing current and development tools and processes, translating requirements into these systems, and collaborating with domestic and global workforce to ensure congruent and fluid tools access. The Engineer will also be involved in developing AI and Machine Learning systems, designing wireframes and functional schematics, and managing requirements. Additionally, the Engineer will ensure compliance with export and proprietary information control regulations and collaborate with various departments/disciplines to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products. Advanced modeling techniques will be applied to analyze systems, and systems thinking will be utilized to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Create and develop Airplane Systems processes and tools that establish consistency and effectiveness within the organization and Airplane programs.

  • Analyze current and development tools and processes and translate requirements into these systems.

  • Engage with domestic and global workforce to establish congruent and fluid tools access with utilization of established enterprise-wide processes.

  • Develop AI and Machine Learning systems for tool and process development.

  • Design wireframes, functional schematics, and requirement management systems.

  • Ensure export and proprietary information control in compliance with regulations.

  • Collaborate with various departments/disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology, avionics) to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products.

  • Apply advanced modeling techniques (e.g., mathematical modeling, simulation, design of experiments, operations research) to analyze systems.

  • Utilize systems thinking to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area.

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Everett, WA

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry.

  • 5+ years of engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Knowledge of analog and digital signal processing, data system design, architecture, use, and measurement techniques utilizing transducers and sensors as a signal source.

  • Knowledge and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.

  • Knowledge of verification, validation, certification, and qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design and packaging techniques.

  • Knowledge of Boeing design, production, and build processes to effectively influence product design.

  • Advanced knowledge of design concepts and techniques (e.g., concurrent engineering, DFM/A).

  • Knowledge and ability to design, analyze, and validate electrical power systems including generation, storage, distribution, load management, conversion, stability, current return networks, high-voltage corona effects, power filter and fault mitigation, etc.

  • Ability to conceive, develop, optimize, maintain, and modify electronic/electrical system designs based on requirements.

  • Knowledge of electronic/electrical systems or subsystems and components, including the requirements, operating principles, design variables, performance, and key interfaces.

  • Knowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) considerations with respect to electrical/electronic design.

  • Knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering departments/disciplines and the interaction between departments/disciplines and non-engineering processes.

  • Knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems and ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions.

  • Knowledge of programming languages, communications, networking, and protocols, computing equipment and its operating systems, and software development and testing tools.

  • Ability to derive and allocate requirements and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area.

Typical Education/Experience: 

  • (Level 3) Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g., PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  • (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range for Lead (Level 3): $102,850 - $139,150

Summary Pay Range for Lead (Level 4): $128,350 - $173,650
