Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is looking for an Enterprise Safety Engineering Manager (Level K) to lead and manage the Enterprise Safety teams (supporting all business units, BCA, BDS and BGS). This position is located in Everett, WA, St. Louis, MO, or Long Beach, CA. 

Enterprise Safety team in Product & Services Safety (P&SS) and in the larger Chief Aerospace Safety Office (CASO), this engineering manager will focus on developing Safety Engineering Design Practices, process guidance, capabilities (model-based safety analysis (MBSA) and solution kits), tools, and training as it relates to managing product safety risk in our fleet of diverse products across the Enterprise. This leader will lead a Safety Engineering team in alignment with the mission and vision of the Safety & Airworthiness Engineering Function’s Chief Engineer office. You will also integrate across engineering functions and support the needs of Boeing programs and business units. 


This team works very closely with Safety Engineering Technical Fellowship, various Safety Technical Boards, Enterprise Safety Model Based Safety Engineering Team, Mission Assurance Safety Engineering Teams, Boeing Defense and Commercial programs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Safety Engineering.

  • Building and managing a diverse team in system safety, including engineers, and project managers.

  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.

  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, safety capabilities, products and processes.

  • Manages, develops and motivates employees.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 5+ years of experience as a team lead or manager role.  

  • 5+ years of experience working with cross-functional teams.

  • 5+ years of an engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in Systems Safety Engineering.

  • Military or defense experience.

  • Experience working in the aerospace industry.

  • Experience performing system safety analysis and/or studies.

Summary pay range: $ 137,700 - $198,950
