Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is looking for an Associate Real Time Software Engineer to join the KC-46 Tanker Mission Systems Avionics (MSA) Software team located in Tukwila, WA.  This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The MSA Software team supports US Air Force and international KC-46 customers, providing integrated hardware and software solutions that enable aerial refueling capabilities.  A variety of software work is needed including real time control software, communications software, and graphical user interface development including video overlays as well as iPad-like application development on operator displays.

This position will include a variety of software development assignments, such as new capability development, delivered capability upgrades, defect correction, and proof-of-concept prototyping via Internal Research and Development (IR&D) activities.

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

Position Responsibilities:

• Assists with the development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

• Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system

• Assists with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met

• Supports software project management and software supplier management functions

• Selects, tailors and deploys processes and tools; establishes metrics

• Performs software research and trade studies

• Troubleshoots software issues

• Works under general supervision

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

• 1+ years of experience with software development on Windows or Linux

• 1+ years of experience working with programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, Matlab)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Experience with embedded (real-time) software development

• Hardware and Software Integration experience

• ESM or Link16 domain experience

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
