Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for a Associate or Experienced Quality Engineer (1st Shift) to support the 787 Program based out of North Charleston, South Carolina.

The Quality Engineering (QE) team at Boeing South Carolina is looking for talented engineers to join our team. QEs work with other engineering functions and the production team to solve complex problems in the Quality Management System. QEs work close to the product every day and are empowered to think creatively to eliminate defects and improve first pass quality. QEs lead problem solving and root cause corrective action activities, perform advanced data analysis, and report out to leadership at all levels.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs data analysis of defect trends in area of responsibility; provide recommendations to improve first pass quality

  • Leadership/support of Root Cause Corrective Action and Problem-Solving activities

  • Daily problem solving for production team issues

  • Project management to identify root cause/point of occurrence of defects

  • Analyze engineering documentation to determine process capability and conformance

  • Assess engineering and build plan changes for conformance impact

  • Continuous improvement of quality engineering processes

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Boeing South Carolina (BSC).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (ABET accredited is preferred)

  • 2+ years of experience in Quality Engineering or Production Engineering within Aerospace or another highly regulated industry

  • 2+ years of experience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) or other similar rigorous processes to engineering development and manufacturing/production efforts

  • 2+ years of experience collecting, organizing and analyzing data, summarizing findings, and developing conclusions

  • 2+ years of experience working with and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience designing and executing a process control system

  • Experience in a customer-facing role

  • Experience with database management/analytics tools & software (SQL, SAS, MS Access, etc.)

  • Proactive and collaborative mindset with an emphasis on positive relationships

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written

  • Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard

Level 2
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Level 3

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation stand
