This position is required to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Everett, WA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of 10-20 engineers, decomposing their work into sizeable tasks toward a common vision.

  • Create strategy plans for MDAO in terms of application use, design use, and pragmatic use in reference to existing airplane design procedures.

  • Research and/or test latest design, analysis and optimization software in the industry, especially Open Source.

  • Research and develop MDAO-hardened analysis methods and software applications for conventional (ie tube and wings with turbofans) and non-conventional (ie box wing with hybrid-electric turboprops, etc.).

  • Ability to modify or implement software methods to enable adjoint state methodology.

  • Produce uncertainty quantification by comparing authoritative data to method prediction.

  • Model and audit aircraft data library.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, physics, mathematics, and/or computer science.

  • Ability to perform fixed-wing aircraft sizing methodology

  • Strong knowledge of aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, mass properties, stability & control, kinematics, aircraft performance

  • Computer programming expertise

  • Knowledge and experience performing gradient-based optimization

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Strong Work Ethic. Positive attitude. Optimistic. Pragmatic.

  • Can work productively in a noisy office environment.

  • Knowledge regarding 14 CFR Part 23, 25, etc

  • Design-Build-Test experience of aircraft

  • Experience with Open Source software associated with aircraft analysis

  • Wind tunnel and data collection method knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience with control theory along with implementation

  • Knowledge of Boeing’s various engineering database management

Typical Education/Experience:

Senior (Level 6):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
